Western Digital Corporation (NYSE: WDC) designs,
develops, manufactures and markets hard drives. Its devices are used for non-volatile data storage in personal computers, servers, network storage, video game consoles, digital video recording devices and TV set-top boxes. The firm sells its products worldwide to manufacturers, distributors and such retailers as Amazon.com (NASDAQ: AMZN), Office Depot (NYSE: ODP) and Target (NYSE: TGT).
Shareholders were pleased last week, when Robert Baird issued positive remarks regarding Western Digital's prospects. Baird noted healthy overall trends in the hard disk drive industry and believed that Western's recent acquisition of Komag gave it a strategic advantage over many competitors. Also last week, Caris boosted its Western Digital unit estimates.

engineering, procurement, construction management and project management services worldwide. Projects involve the design and construction of manufacturing facilities, transportation infrastructure, refineries, healthcare buildings, power plants and telecommunications infrastructure. The company also provides administrative and support services to the U.S. government. The oil and gas sector accounts for about 50% of sales. Commercial clients include Exxon Mobil (NYSE: XOM), General Motors (NYSE: GM) and DuPont (NYSE: DD).
Investors were pleased last week, when the company reported Q1 EPS of $1.50 and revenues of $4.81 billion. Analysts had been looking for $1.27 and $4.64 billion. Officials said that consolidated backlog rose to $31.5 billion, up 33% from the year ago period. Management also guided FY08 EPS to $6.25-$6.55, versus consensus of $5.63.

software, services and proprietary content that enable organizations to find and retain employees. The company's web-based applications assist clients in successfully addressing such issues as recruitment, skills testing and tracking of employee development. The firm also conducts clients' recruitment and hiring processes for them. Kenexa sells its software products and services to some 4,000 firms, primarily on a subscription basis. The company client list includes ConAgra Foods (NYSE: CAG), Eaton Corporation (NYSE: ETN) and Wachovia Corporation (NYSE: WB).
Kenexa pleased investors last week, when it reported Q1 EPS of 31 cents and revenues of $48.2 million. Analysts had been looking for 23 cents and $48.8 million. The CEO noted that Q1 saw a record number of new preferred partner customers sign with the firm. Management also guided Q2 EPS to 34-35 cents (34 cent consensus), Q2 revenues to $56-$57 million ($53.73M consensus), FY08 EPS to $1.47-$1.50 ($1.39 consensus) and FY08 revenues to $230-$235 million ($221.45M consensus).

Agilent Technologies (NYSE: A) provides
electronic measurement and bio-analytical solutions to the communications, electronics, life sciences and chemical analysis industries. Its Electronic Measurement segment offers such instruments as data generators, multimeters, and oscilloscopes. The Bio-Analytical Measurement unit sells instruments, software, consumables and services for quantifying the physical and biological properties of substances. Customers include Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO) and Merck (NYSE: MRK). The firm was a 1999 spin-off of Hewlett-Packard (NYSE: HPQ).
Agilent pleased investors last week, when it announced fiscal Q2 EPS of 51 cents and revenues of $1.46 billion. Analysts had been looking for 48 cents and $1.43 billion. Management also guided Q3 EPS to 52-56 cents (55 cent consensus), Q3 revenues to $1.44-$1.49 billion ($1.46B consensus), FY08 EPS to $2.07-$2.15 ($2.08 consensus) and FY08 revenues to $5.82-$5.93 billion ($5.83B consensus). Needham subsequently reiterated its "buy" recommendation and boosted its price target to $42. Standard & Poor's raised its Agilent outlook from "stable" to "positive".

Canadian Solar (NASDAQ: CSIQ) develops,
manufactures and markets solar module products for the conversion of sunlight into electrical energy. Offerings include solar panels for residential and industrial use, plus customized modules that customers incorporate into their own products. The modules power such special-purpose devices as bus stop lighting systems and vehicle battery chargers. Canadian Solar is incorporated in Ontario, but conducts all of its manufacturing operations through six subsidiaries in China. The firm is actively involved in government projects to bring solar power to rural Chinese communities. Clients are distributors, systems integrators and manufacturers in North America, Asia and Europe.
The company pleased investors last week, when it reported Q1 EPS of 61 cents and revenues of $171.2 million. Analysts had been looking for 31 cents and $151.9 million. The CEO cited robust market demand, strong pricing and effective management of foreign exchange exposure for the successful quarter. Management also guided Q2 revenues to $185-$190 million, versus consensus of $167.62 million.

Activision (NASDAQ: ATVI) is
a leading developer, publisher and distributor of interactive entertainment and leisure products. Offerings include such action titles as Tony Hawk's Underground, Doom, and Call of Duty. The firm also makes games based on licensed properties associated with the films Star Wars, Spider-Man, X-Men and Shrek. Activision games operate on Sony (NYSE: SNE), Nintendo and Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) console and portable devices, as well as on personal computers. The company agreed to sell a 52% stake to Vivendi late last year, in a deal valued at $9.8 billion. Activision will be combined with Vivendi Games, to create the world's largest independent video games company.
The firm surprised the Street earlier in the month, when it reported fiscal Q4 EPS of 17 cents and revenues of $602.5 million. Analysts had been expecting five cents and $369.1 million. Management also guided FY09 EPS to $1.30 ($1.18 consensus) and FY09 revenues to $3.1 billion ($2.82B consensus). Moving toward the Vivendi link-up, the CEO promised to "focus our resources on proven properties with broad global appeal." Six brokerages subsequently declared the stock a "buy".

American Oriental Bioengineering (NYSE: AOB) manufactures
a broad range of prescription pharmaceutical, over-the-counter pharmaceutical and nutraceutical products for the Chinese market, operating from 30 locations in the Peoples Republic. Offerings include treatments for the flu, upper respiratory infections, tonsillitis, incontinence, endometritis, annexitis, PMS and sinus congestion. The firm sells to some 100,000 retail stores, pharmacies, hospitals and independent distributors.
American Oriental surprised the Street earlier in the month, when it reported Q1 EPS of 12 cents and revenues of $38.8 million. Analysts had been looking for 12 cents and $37.9 million. Management also guided FY08 revenues to at least $245.0 million, versus consensus of $227.64 million. The CEO cited synergies from recent acquisitions in support of the optimistic view.

Gibraltar surprised the Street earlier in the month, when it reported Q1 EPS of 27 cents and revenues of $325.5 million. Analysts had been expecting 14 cents and $317.6 million. The CEO attributed success to growth in the company's commercial building, industrial and international businesses. Management also guided FY08 EPS to $1.05-$1.25 ($1.02 consensus).

Operating income increased to 24% of revenue from 10% in the comparable period last year and from 20% in the December 2007 quarter. Management also guided FY08 EPS to $1.78-$1.90 ($1.79 consensus), FY08 revenues to levels above $885 million ($894.02M consensus) and FY09 EPS to $2.10-$2.50 ($2.24 consensus).

The company operates a Name Your Own Price system, which allows users to make offers for travel services at prices they set. It also markets fixed-price travel products and offers various online financial services. Expedia (NASDAQ: EXPE) is a major competitor.
The firm pleased investors last week, when it reported Q1 EPS of 76 cents and revenues of $403.20 million. Analysts had been expecting 60 cents and $377.17 million. Gross travel bookings increased 76% yr/yr, a result above company guidance of 60-65%. Pro forma gross profit rose 74.7% yr/yr, versus guidance of 55-60%. Management predicted FY08 EPS of $5.25-$5.65 ($5.12 consensus).

JP Morgan subsequently upgraded the shares to "overweight". Wedbush Morgan reiterated its "strong buy," Lehman Brothers its "overweight" and Brean Murray its "buy." Price targets ranged between $24 and $26.
